There is a difference between a book you admire and a book you immediately want to hand to somebody else.
The second kind usually has warmth. Not necessarily sweetness, but generosity. It leaves enough room for another person to enter.
I recommend novels with strong voices, memoirs that feel conversational instead of performative, and book-club novels that give people something real to disagree about afterward.
Those are the books that travel well between readers. They start conversations instead of ending them.
